_…Says, zoning shouldn’t be our priority_

Ahead of the 2026 guber election in Osun State, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in the State, Prince Oladele Oyelude, has adviced party leadership to look for a credible candidate from any zone to fly the flag of the Party., OsunReporters News gathered.

Oyelude, who spoke with Journalists in Osogbo on Saturday on political preparedness of the APC ahead of 2026, said the Party is grounded and is ready to takeover the leadership of the State.

He advised the APC hierarchy to look inwards without considering any particular zone, and pick a rightful candidate who can deliver the state to the APC.

According to hm, “When it comes to zoning matter, I’m not qualified to discuss it. But I think the party should look at the best zone where we can get bulk votes.

“As opposition trying to take over, zone shouldn’t be our major priorities. Just look at the last elections, Southeast has been clamouring for presidency but APC and PDP did not believe they can get bulk votes from that region and Southwest favoured our party. That’s how it works.”

While commenting on the current administration in rhe state, Oyelude described the Governor Ademola Adeleke led government as ineffective, citing the dwindling revenue generation as one of the yardsticks. He also berated the Commissioner for Agriculture in the State, describing him as absent.

“Look at the revenue generation for example. Imagine Osun having the lowest IGR in the Southwest? When other states are having ten billion naira differences, Osun is having just 2bn, despite all the inflation and fuel subsidy removal. That shows how unserious our state government has been.

“Governor Adeleke should look for capable hands for different portfolios. Or maybe the Governor is hiding some certain things and do not want to expose all what they are getting.

“In the Agricultural sector, it’s even a write-off. I don’t even know who the commissioner for agric in Osun State is. Maybe he has no idea or he should be sacked. We were shown some tractors some weeks ago and today no one can say those tractors are working.” Oyelude said.
