Kwara, Kano govts declare public holidays

….Kano State Government, on Thursday, declared Monday, August 1, 2022, as a work-free day to mark the beginning of the 1445 Islamic (Hijrah) New Year.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, congratulated all Muslims in the state on the spiritual significance of the occasion, which he said, calls for self-assessment.

,,,,He called on the Muslim community to use the occasion to seek Allah’s forgiveness, and pray for His intervention to salvage the nation from the lingering security challenges and improvement in the general wellbeing and progress of the state and the country in general.

The governor assured residents of his administration’s readiness to assiduously continue to deliver on its promise by improving their living standards through the execution of people-oriented programmes and projects.

The statement also urged those that are yet to obtain their voter’s card to do so in order to be able to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming general elections.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has declared Friday (July 29) work-free for civil servants in the state to enable them register to vote in the next general election.

…..In a release by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor urged the people to make good use of the free day to perform their civic duty of voter registration.

The holiday comes as the INEC closes the continuous voter registration exercise July 31.


…….“His Excellency urges the people of Kwara State, especially the civil servants, to take full advantage of the holiday to perform their civic duty of registering to vote,” Ajakaye noted
