Osun College Students Protest Over Death Of Colleagues As Management Shutdown Institution

The sudden death of more than four students of the Osun State College of Education, Ilesa, has resulted to Students unrest as the college management directed that all students proceed on mid semester break immediately.

This was stated in a release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Institution; Mr. Segun Ojolo that the management has resolved that students should go on break as a result of ongoing protest by some unidentified students of the college.

OSUN REPORTERS gathered that Some students come together as a group to protest the death of four students of the college while some students deported the number of dead colleagues as nine.

According to the press release, ”The college is using this medium to put the record straight on the student unrest that occurred today Tuesday, May 28th, 2019. College management condoles with the families of dead students who died within the last few weeks.

“Contrary to rumours making around, their deaths occurred after protracted sickness under the watch of the respective parents not within the college.


“It is unfortunate that while college management, staffs and legitimate representatives of the students were mourning this sad occurrence, some miscreants chose to mobilise unsuspecting students for violent protest to the extent of assaulting Divisional Police Officers.”

The institution closed for the mid-semester while the resumption date will be on the month of June, 2019.
