2 Dead, Many Injured In Lagos Boat Mishap
Information reaching the OsunReporters News has it that no fewer thsn two persons have died and 15 others rescued after a boat crashed in the Ikoyi area of Lagos.
According to reports, the accident occurred Wednesday evening at Powerline, Ikoyi Link Bridge. The 17-passenger boat was Ikorodu bound when it suddenly caved-in following a lone accident.
While confirming the incident, the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), said the crash caused by a rise in tide, adding that the rider rammed into a high-tension pole that was flooded by water which led to the capsize of the boat.
……The agency confirmed that two persons, a male and a female died from the accident, adding that 15 others were rescued unhurt, noting that the deceased female was retrieved from the water while a search was on for the male.
“The body of an adult female was retrieved from the water and subsequently transported from the incident scene to LASWA head office at Falomo before being was confirmed dead by the LRU paramedics. The adult female remains have been bagged and await the arrival of the SEHMU officials. The search for the body of the adult male is ongoing,” it said.
