22-year-old housekeeper in court for allegedly stealing N25m box of jewelry
A 22-year-old housekeeper, Ngozi Edeh, who allegedly stole a box of jewelries worth N25 million, on Thursday appeared in an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The police charged Edeh with two counts of conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Cyriacus Osuji, said that the defendant and others at large,committed the alleged offence on March 11, at 6 p.m., at No. 16, Prof. Kunmi Akingbehin St., Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
Osuji alleged that the defendant stole one Rolex watch, AP watch, gold wedding ring, neck chain, set of necklace and earring, green crystaland diamond jewelry.
He said other items stolen included, three sekunda watches, two bangles, set of white gold necklaces, fresh water pearl, gold and silver bangles, all valued at N25 million.
He said the stolen jewelries belonged to one Mr Roy Oshinbolu.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs M. O. Ope-Agbe, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N10 million with one surety in like sum.
Ope-Agbe ordered that the surety must be gainfully employed.
She also ordered that the surety must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government and have his address verified.
The magistrate adjourned the case until April 8 for mention.
