The Osun government on Monday, November 15, 2021, explained that the improved aesthetics, the extension of the scope of work and the torrential rains seen in Osogbo, coupled with the desire not to compromise standards, were responsible for the delay in completing the overflight of Olaiya on time,

The government, however, assured that with the current stage and pace of work, the project would be delivered before the end of the year, saying that there are only a few weeks of delay.

He appreciated the residents and road users for their understanding and cooperation so far.
Governor Adegboyega Oyetola had, while reporting the construction of the flyover in February this year, promised the residents of Osun that the project would be ready in nine months.

The State Commissioner for Works and Transport, the Hon. Remi Omowaiye, in an interview with reporters, said that the need to show all “due diligence for the structural stability of the bridge has contributed to the delay”.

He added that “due to the depth of the retaining wall, the consultant insisted that it must be layers. And on each of the layers, we need to do some testing before we continue.

“At the beginning also, we lost a few weeks because the consultant insisted that the samples of the framework and even of the rock under it be taken to three different laboratories in different states to fulfill all the necessary due diligence. before proceeding.

“This was all responsible for why we won’t be opening the place in November as promised earlier. We are deeply sorry for this. However, let me make sure that with the level of work done so far, before the end of December, Olaiya Flyover will be up and running. We thank people for their understanding and cooperation.
