Says victim is his family member…

Osun State Commissioner for Agriculture & Food Security, Honorable Tola Faseru has revealed that the victim of the accident that involved a truck linked to one of his companies is his family relative, stating that he’s as grieved as everyone.

Faseru, who addressed a press briefing at his Ijebu-Jesa residence on Tuesday, explained how the management of the company and the forwarding company which owns the accidented truck have taken care of the liability and are in touch with the family.

The Commissioner said although he’s the founder of the company, he has not been involved in the daily activities of it following his appointment by his Excellency Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“By the virtue of my appointment as a Commissioner, I have ceased to be involved in the day-to-day running of the company. I established it over 25 years ago and it’s a company that deals with exportation of agricultural produce.

The unfortunate incident is highly painful. I later found out that the victim was coincidentally, a family member of mine. The Management of my company and the forwarding company have met with the family and a settlement term has been reached.

“The managements of the companies have taken over the liability and are in touch with the family to ensure all the terms of settlement are finalized.

“To me as person, my intervention will not be one-off thing. As I said the victim is a family member, I shall continue to be with the family and support them at all times.” He said.

Speaking on the preventive measures put in place, Faseru explained that Governor Adeleke was pained with the incident and he has commenced actions to forestall future occurrences.

“The governor, having heard about it, sent a delegation led by the Commissioner for transport to the family and the school and the government has put in measures to ensure safety of motorists and citizens along that corridor. The road will surely get the attention of the government.”
