Oyo Guber 2019: Adelabu tenders 495 exhibits as tribunal resumes hearing
The evidence presented before the Oyo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adebayo Adelabu includes the results from 495 polling units and wards in 26 Local Government Areas has been admitted as exhibits by the court.
Seyi Makinde who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the March 9 governorship election in the state as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission is been challenged at the court by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Adebayo Adelabu.
The results from 266 polling units and wards in 23 Local Government Areas tendered before the tribunal by the APC lawyer, Rolard Otaru SAN has been admitted as exhibits.
The tribunal resumed hearing on Tuesday, while results of three more LGs were also tendered before the tribunal, bringing the number of results of disputed polling units to 495 in 26 LGs.
The complainant’s lawyer informed the court that the tendered documents were true certified copies of Form EC8 for different polling units and wards obtained from INEC in respect to the Oyo State March 9 governorship election, urging the tribunal to admit all the documents tendered in evidence as exhibits.
The two counsels for Makinde and INEC, Kenechi Ikpeazu SAN and Akinlolu Kehinde SAN, however, told the tribunal that they were reserving objection to the admissibility of all the documents tendered by APC.
Justice Sirajo Muhammed who chaired the three-man panel, admitted the documents as exhibits, adding that the tribunal would now be sitting five days in a week.
Before now, the results of the governorship election in Oyo State where Makinde of the PDP won with 515,621 votes to defeat Adelabu of the APC who had 357,982 votes as declared by INEC.
