Panic In LAUTECH Hospital, As Two Doctors Test Positive For COVID-19 In Osogbo

In the course of discharging their duties as state government workers, two medical doctors of the Ladoke Akintola ​University Teaching Hospital
​(LAUTECH) in Osogbo, Osun state have being tested positive to Covid-19.

While attending to patients with coronavirus symptoms, the doctors reportedly contracted the virus amongst many of the discovered patients in the state.

The State Commissioner for Health, Rafiu Isamotu confirmed the status of the two doctors on Wednesday among the result of covid-19 test of 65 workers of LAUTECH in Osogbo.

Information revealed that the doctors might have contracted the virus from patient that was referred from Lagos State for an ophthalmological surgery in LAUTECH, adding that the patient was sent to the General Hospital, Asubiaro, isolation centre for test and he was positive, but eventually died on Sunday.

OSUNREPORTERS NEWS also gathered that, after the discovery of coronavirus patient, there was apprehension among medical personnel in the hospital that led to shutting of the clinics in the hospital with immediate quarantined of 14 persons including medical personnel present at the optical clinic on Thursday.


To disinfect the affected areas, the state government has fumigated the hospital premises as at the time of filling this report.
