Kwara Workers Defy Court Order, Begin Indefinite Strike
All government workers in Kwara state have embarked on indefinite strike starting from Tuesday, 13th October, 2020 following the failure of the state government to meet their demand.
This is coming after the Joint Kwara Labour Congress issued a statement on Monday threatening to embark on industrial action if the government fail to implement 30,000 minimum wage for state and local government workers.
Meanwhile, the state government already secured an experte motion from the National Industrial Court, Akure restraining labour from embarking on the industrial action but the Vice Chairman of the Kwara State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Muritala Olayinka denied that the unions received any court order.
The report noted that the labour union is not ready to resume work except government is ready to pay the minimum wage and the consequential adjustment for state and local government workers.
Meanwhile, Kwara government has expressed willingness to pay the minimum wage based on table that its resource can accommodate.
As at the press time, OSUNREPORTERS NEWS gathered that all Ministries, Department and Agencies of government were under locked and key by the labour leaders on Tuesday morning.
