JUST IN: FG launches Made-In-Nigeria barite
The Ministry of Mines and Steel Development launched Made in Nigeria barite in Port Harcourt, as part of its modest efforts to develop industrial minerals. This initiative is expected to stimulate the promotion and growth of local content, boosting the economy with a corresponding increase in income.
The initiative would therefore not only put Nigeria on the radar of global mining communities, but would also save the country around $ 300 million in annual import costs, thereby creating employment opportunities for the burgeoning population.
The ministry will also commission an open market portal that will connect all stakeholders in the barite value chain to a hub that enables efficient coordination, storage, costing and transparent sale of barite, in the as we adhere to the Ease of Doing Business initiative.
