Actress Toyin Faces Criticism After Declaring Support For Tinubu
For declaring support for President Tinubu, the popular Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham is currently facing severe backlash from frustrated Nigerians amidst the deepening economic crisis in the country.
For her vigorous campaign in support of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2023 elections, very social media post by the actress is met with criticism and insults from her fans and followers. Some netizens have gone to the extent of creating and sharing flyers with the message “Rest in peace” about the actress.
____Acknowledging the negative reactions, Abraham expressed awareness of the pain felt by the people, stating, “Unexplainable, but God will see us all through. It is people’s pain that is getting to me.”
_____In a related development, the actress attributed negative reviews of one of her movies, ‘Ijakumo, the Born-Again Stripper,’ to political opposition. She initially responded with frustration, stating, “You all went to create a WhatsApp group because of ‘Ijakumo, the Born-Again Stripper’; please continue. You all will tell the world why choosing my own candidate is a crime, and yours isn’t.” Later, she apologized for her outburst, urging critics to share their opinions about the movie “with love.”

_____Despite the apology, the intense criticisms persist. Responding to a recent Instagram post, one user expressed harsh judgment and wrote, “Asiwaju Baby. God will visit and judge you. You have not started crying.” Another comment suggested impatience, questioning when the promised actions would be executed.
Nigerians are currently unfriendly with the current administration of President Bola Tinubu over the ongoing economic hardship.
