Omolabi Ruling House of Alajue town in Ede South have protested the appointment of Prince Adebayo Sulaiman as new Olu of Alajue by the Osun State government, OsunReporters News gathered.

In a protest led by Alh Abdulateef Afolabi on Thursday, Omolabi Ruling House alleged that the installed Oni of Alajue is not eligible, adding that Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal who shown a vested interest in the Alajue stool had installed Sulaiman a day after the state government’s approval of Sulaiman who does not belong to any ruling house.

According to Afolabi, “The existing court order by Justice A. O. Oyebiyi of the Ede Judicial Division of the Osun State High Court was disobeyed by the State government for approving the appointment of Olu of Alajue on January 3rd, 2024.”

A court injunction made available to the OsunReporters News Correspondent, stated that “On the application of Counsel to withdraw the application, the Motion dated 21/03/16 is hereby struck out. An accelerated hearing of this case is hereby ordered and Parties are enjoined not to do anything that would foist on the Court a state of helplessness in the case pending the determination of the suit.”

In his reaction, the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi explained that there was no court order known to the state government on the matter, adding that the government will address the said order when properly served.

According to him, “Before the state executive council went ahead with the announcement of the appointment of the traditional rulers, we got the approval of the Ministry of Justice.

“I am very sure that if the order has been brought to the attention of the Ministry of Justice and the order is still valid, the Ministry of Justice would have cautioned the state government. They could have collected the order and not serve it. Perhaps, we have not been served or the order has been vacated.

“Having said that, when we see their letter of grievance, we will know how to address it. But I’m sure due process was followed.”
