In the Ikenne region of Ogun State, a herbalist named Idowu Talabi is said to have decapitated a lotto operator named Isau Oluwatobiloba after accusing him of stealing his money from their home there.

PUNCH The lotto operator reportedly accused the herbalist of breaking into his room to steal his money when Talabi and Oluwatobiloba were at home.

The two got into a fight over the accusation, but neighbors reportedly interfered to stop the fight from getting out of hand and requested that the situation be resolved so that peace could return.

After Talabi and Oluwatobiloba were divided, it was learned that the neighbors went to their different flats.

But Talabi allegedly killed Oluwatobiloba in the middle of the night after breaking into his apartment while carrying a cutlass.

Esther, Oluwatobiloba’s wife, revealed to our correspondent that she returned from vigil on Saturday morning to find her husband’s body in a pool of blood.

On Friday, November 25, we both departed from home in the afternoon, she remarked. I visited my mother and came back later in the day. He agreed after I informed him that I wanted to go to church. I asked him to go with me, but he refused, saying that we shouldn’t leave our grandmother Mujidat home alone. I agreed and went to the vigil.

“When I got back home and went inside, it was pitch black. I dialed my hubby because I was afraid. I turned on the torchlight to see well, and then I discovered his dead body. People surrounded me after I yelled. Oluwatobiloba was arrested shortly after I accused him of killing my spouse.

According to Kayode Oshiyemi, an attorney for the victim’s family, Talabi used Esther’s absence from the house as cover to commit the crime. He also instructed the deceased’s wife and grandmother to leave their rooms’ doors open so that he could perform spiritual cleansing throughout the entire home.

“I’ve been briefed on the incident by the deceased’s wife, and she wants justice,” he said. The grandchild of the landlord and the man did not get along. The dead, a lotto player, said that the herbalist broke into his room and grabbed his money, and the herbalist admitted that he did.

Since then, they have been fighting. The herbalist then informed the deceased’s mother, who was residing in the room next to the deceased’s, that she should not lock their doors because of the ceremony because he intended to do it across the entire house. The herbalist also expressed his desire to perform the ceremony to the wife, but she left for a vigil.

“The lotto operator’s wife charged the herbalist with murder after seeing her husband in a pool of blood when she got home from church about five in the morning. Everyone in the residence was taken into custody after the incident was reported to the Ikenne Police Station. During the investigation, one of the upstairs tenants claimed to have witnessed the herbalist burning some blood-soaked clothing in the middle of the night.

The herbalist made his confession to the crime at that point. The herbalist claimed that he killed him due of his arrogance and constant appearance of wealth and material possessions. The herbalist said to the police that he used fire to melt the net and scissors to pry through the latch on the main door because it was left unlocked in order to enter the chamber.

According to a photo our correspondent has, Oluwatobiloba’s body was found laying on a bed that was covered in his blood. The victim had significant injuries on his neck and chest.

The suspect was detained as a result of a report made at the Ikenne Police Station by the deceased’s wife, according to a statement from the state police public relations officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi.

“After getting the information, the DPO Ikenne Division, CSP Ibrahim Ningi, took his investigators to the location, where it was found that the deceased was killed with a machete while resting on his bed,” he added.

“It was also found that nothing had been taken from the room or broken in at the scene. The entire household was invited to the station for questioning because the discovery suggested that the killing had been committed by an insider.

“Idowu Talabi, who claimed to be a native doctor, confessed to killing the deceased after a thorough investigation. The suspect claimed that the deceased frequently accused him of stealing when he was questioned about the reason behind the nefarious deed.
