INEC Investigates Pre-Filled Result Sheets In Kogi
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has responded to the recent viral issue regarding pre-filled result sheets at the ongoing governorship election in Kogi state, AMILOADED reports.
AMILOADED reports that a results sheet emerged online before the election began, leading to a variety of reactions on social media platforms.
In response to this report, INEC has taken the matter seriously and has initiated an investigation. Their official statement, as posted on their ‘X page (formerly Twitter), reads: “Breaking News – Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State.
“The Commission views this situation seriously. Our senior officials deployed to the State are currently investigating the incident(s). The Commission will communicate its decision earnestly. #KogiDecides2023.”
Recall YIAGA Africa, an advocacy organization, had previously called upon INEC to investigate the matter.
In a tweet directed at INEC, YIAGA Africa stated, “Dear @inecnigeria, we received a report of pre-filled results sheets discovered in PU 004, Eni Ward of Ogori/magongo in Kogi State before the commencement of voting. Kindly investigate and address this issue promptly to safeguard the integrity of the process.”
