JUST IN: Ondo Monarch Attacked By Herdsmen Inside His Palace

Suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly invaded the palace of Oba Walidu Sanni of Gedegede Akoko in Akoko North-West Local Government of Ondo State.

The report had it that the nine suspected herdsmen stormed the palace, harassed and threatened to kill the monarch because he has reported to the police the continuous destruction of farmland of his subjects by the herders.

Oba Sanni raised the alarm at a stakeholder’ partly organized by the police over threat by the Fulani herdsmen to both his life that of his immediate family and community members members

In his statement, “I reported the case to the police after I seized a gun and a cutlass which I deposited to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Okeagbe Police Station, Mr. Johnson Akintola.

“It was reported to the Chairman Akoko North-West Local Government Area, Samson Akande as well as fellow traditional rulers in this area which prompted the intervention of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who deployed his Special Assistant on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, to look into the incident.”


In attendance at the meeting includes, Owa of Ogbagi-Akoko, Zaki of Arigidi-Akoko, Alh Usman Bala who is the Special Adviser to Governor Akeredolu on Hausa Matters.
Others are Elese of Ese-Akoko, and the Chairman of Nigerians Inter Religious Council (NIREC) Akoko North-West, Alh Ibrahim Kilani.
