Mukhtar Ajelogbon De-Moon Iconic Profile

THE ICONIC PROFILE OF COMRADE MUKHTAR ABIODUN AREMU AJELOGBON DEMOON ON HIS 10TH ANNIVERSARY IN JOURNALISM TODAY THURSDAY 5TH JULY, 2018

Mukhtar Abiodun Aremu was born to the family of Pa. Jimoh Ajani Ajelogbon of Oluponna compound, and Mrs. Ajelogbon M. Raji of Alegbeleye compound both in Osogbo, Osun State on the 22nd day of December in the early 80s as the first third child of the family. Mukhtar was grew in strength and wisdom in a polygamous environment, he was trained and brought up to be a devoted Muslim.
As a promising child, Mukhtar started and completed his elementary education at St. Luke’s Anglican Primary School, Isarun in Ifedore Local Government of Ondo State between 1989 and 1995. He had Secondary School education at Community High School, Isarun, Ifedore Local Government of Ondo State from 1996 to 2002 and completed his Senior School Certificate Extermination (SSCE) at Urban Day Grammar School, Ile-Ife, Osun State in 2004. He proceeded to the prestigious Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State between 2006 and 2011 where he graduated with Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in Linguistics with Second Class Honour.
He completed his first stage of Quranic education in 1999 and went for barbing training and become a professional barber in the year 2003
In his early days from Primary to University, Comrade Mukhtar Abiodun was a lover of public speaking, community development and students activism. He was the School Janitor in his Primary and the Assistant Senior Prefect (boy) during his Secondary days. Vice President, NASFAT Youth wing in Igbara-oke, Ifedore LG of Ondo State, Member, Edutainment Radio Presenters Association (ERPA), Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS), Osogbo National Students Union (ONSU), Linguistics Students Association (LINSA) and Student Union Government of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State between 2006 and 2011 which earned him a wide range of titles and experiences as:

* General Secretary, Edutainment Radio Presenters Association of the University – 2008
* Public Relations Officer (PRO), National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) of the University – 2008

Mukhtar’s engagement in student activism at the great Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko during his undergraduate days could not be forgotten. He was one of the representative of the Adekunle Ajasin University at the “All-Nigeria United Nations Student and Youth Association” held at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 2008. He was one of the Students leaders who led solidarity protests against injustice, illegal fees and many irregularities between the Students, School management and Ondo State Government under the governorship of Late Dr. Olusegun Agagu. He was also one of the representative of the Department of Linguistics and Languages of the University at the Southwest Cultural Summit and Egbe Omo Akeko Ede Yoruba held at the University of Ibadan in 2010. He was one of the leading Student leaders who led both ideological and peaceful aluta war to regain the consciousness of Osogbo National Students Union (ONSU) under the revolutionary administration of Comrade Ghasali Daud (Karl-Marx) as the National President which gave the Union the first ever two aluta buses from Osogbo and Olohunda Local Governments in the year 2012. Mukhtar was also one of the Student leaders who advocated and led series of protests to actualized the first ever bursary award increment from N2,000 to N5,000 from the State Government of Osun as the then National General Secretary of Osun State Students both at home and diaspora in 2011.

Upon his graduation from the Department of Linguistics and Languages at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State in 2011, His result was delayed till 2013 due to missing script to dealt with some Student activists at that time which affected his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme but was issued the certificate of exception by the National Youth Service Corps in 2013.

Comrade Osupa, as fondly called by many of his admirers, also known as “Osupa-Anabi” during his days as a student of Arabic and Islamic Studies because of his dedication and excellence performance in Islamic cycle. He is usually addressed as “Osupa-Aluta” during his University days as a result of his undiscriminating appetite for activism. While he is being currently addressed as “Osupa-Oro” and “MC DeMoon” as a result of the broadcasting aspect of his journalism profession as a Master of Ceremony, Radio/TV Presenter and Jingle producer.
On the 22nd of December, 2012, he met a beautiful Muslim sister at a weeding party where Mukhtar was the MC of the occasion and as well as a friend to the groom at the same time while the lady in question was the younger sister to the bride. As destined by Allah, the beautiful sister named Ayobami from Iyaniso compound in Osogbo became the official wife to Mukhtar on the 13th of June, 2015. Allah has blessed the Union between the most lovely, respectful, careering and proud wife of Ajelogbon’s dynasty and Mukhtar with a promising child.

MC DeMoon and journalism are no doubt five and six, as he promptly started his journalism career in the year 2007 while on campus. He was a regular anchor of a popular live radio programme titled “Muslim Half Hour” on Edutainment 107.5 FM campus radio every Friday as the only Muslim programme on campus radio at that time. He latter introduced another entertainment programme titled “Emaagbadun On FM” which triggered his popularity within and outside the campus and served as source of income through advertisements on the programme during that time. He latter upgraded to anchor many life changing programmes on Radio and Television stations such as: Emaagbadun on Adaba 88.9 FM Radio, Akure in 2009; Obajeti on Uniq 103.1 FM Radio, Ilesa in 2014; E Ku oro esin on OSBC television, Osogbo in 2016; Lagbo-Ife on Raypower 95.1 FM radio, Osogbo since 2015 – 2018. He worked as a Senior Correspondent to The Gold Magazine, Oodua Pen, Oroki Trumpet and Classy Magazine. He is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of NewMoon Magazine since 2015 till date.

Experience is no doubt the best teacher, DeMoon has distinguished himself as a man of many parts laced with determination, hardworking and firm believe. Mukhtar started working in his own company as the Chief Executive Officer of DeMoon Media Links since 2009. Published his own magazine, titled NewMoon Magazine in 2015, Osun Reporters Newspaper (online and print) up till now. He has never worked under any public establishment since he graduated from the University up till 2017 when he was selected as one of the Nigerian Youths to be empowered under the Federal Government Empowerment Scheme (N-Power) for two years.

When he finally decided to return home (Osogbo) as a young vibrant undergraduate student who is ready to acquire more knowledge, he approaches two different broadcasters in Osun and requested to be managing with them in media but turned him down and asked him to obtain apprenticeship form before he latter met a kindhearted, generous Osogbo born versatile broadcaster and print Journalist, Aare Olatunbosun Oyedele Oode in Osogbo and moved closer to him to be his mentor in 2010. Aare Bosun Oode embraced and received him with open hands who since then always mentoring Mukhtar in boosting the bright talent of journalism with ewi exposition detected in him both electronic and print media up till now. Professionally, Mukhtar Ajelogbon always regards Aare Bosun Oode as mentor, boss, role model and above all a brother in all ramifications. He also met his confidants in the struggle of activism who are his intimate friends till today, Comrade Olaitan Asimiyu (Small Father), Comrade Ghasali Daud Oladimeji (Karl Marx) and Asiwaju Asimiyu Amsat. In the journey of life, he also met people who are important to him such as Folayemi Oluwasehun, Fasakin Gbenga, Fakorede Olasunkanmi Alaseyori, Adeniji Babatunde Yahya, Uthman Lukman Adedayo, Oyejola Rukayah, Olowogboyega Nurudeen Odofin, Prince Oyelami Oyewale Matanmi, Akeem Oyekanmi Honesty, Olatunbosun Adebayo, Olajide Oyegbemiro, among others.

On Friday, 20th day of April, 2012, Mukhtar’s father, Pa. Jimoh Ajani Ajelogbon departed this world at age 72, he was a freedom fighter of repute, famous cocoa farmer and Islamic Chieftain in his lifetime. Late Ajelogbon was the Chief Azthan of Isarun town in Ifedore Local Government of Ondo State for 38 years. He was one of the foundation members of the non-indigenes who built the Central mosque in Isarun town today. While his supportive wife, Mrs. Ajelogbon, the mother of today’s celebrant is still alive and healthy. A caring, prayerful and lovely mother, grandmother and great grandmother who is endowed with many proud Children, grant Children. May Allah grant her long life with good health to reap the fruit of her labour and grant late Ajelogbon al-janah firdaus. Ameen

Politically, Mukhtar Abiodun DeMoon is a progressive activist since his undergraduate days. His experience in Student Union politics assisted him in the real party politics when he was invited to join a Local Government Chairmanship campaign team that worked for the emergence of Hon. Adewumi Adesoye Idowu as the Executive Chairman of Ifedore Local Government of Ondo State in the year 2007. He was also invited in 2013 by Hon. Kamarudeen Bamidele Dekam as one of the pioneer member of his political campaign team who is currently a parliamentarian as the Deputy Leader of Osogbo Local Government true the formidable platform of DEKAM GROUP within the All Progressives Congress (APC) up till now.

Mukhtar belongs to Osogbo Development Action Group (ODAG), Osogbo Progressive Union (OPU), Osogbo Peace and Unity Advocacy, Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Osun Online Media Practitioners Association (OOMPA)  among others.

* Campaign Manager, Dekam Chairmanship campaign team – 2018

In recognition of his impacts in the society, Mukhtar have received numerous award of excellence and meritorious services among which are:

* Most vibrant parliamentarian by Osogbo National Students’ Union (ONSU) – 2012
* Senior Advocate of Yoruba Broadcasters Award by Yoruba Broadcasters Association (YBA) – 2015.

His hobbies includes:- Reading, charting and factual. He is happily married to a lovely wife and blessed with a promising son.

As Mukhtar Abiodun Aremu Ajelogbon Osupa-oro MC De-Moon is celebrating his 10th year in active journalism, also inaugurating his Media Team tagged NEWMOON CREW on Thursday 5th July, 2018. He has leave a footprint in electronic, print and social media in the early stage of his life as role model to many young Nigerians and a blessing to the Ajelogbon’s family, Oluponna compound, Osogbo and Nigeria as a whole.
