Following the death of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Salihu Adetunji, controversy over the next King of the ancient city has emanated.

OSUNREPORTERS NEWS gathered that crisis is currently brewings in Ibadan as the current Otun Olubadan, Senator Lekan Balogun who is supposed to mount the throne after the demise of Oba Saliu Adetunji is currently facing resistance.

This is coming as the former Attorney-General of Oyo state, Michael Lana, stated that Balogun is unfit to wear the crown.

,,,,In a letter dated January 3, addressed to the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, where Lana explained that crowning the current Otun of Ibadan as king will amount to an “aberration and illegality”.

…He has therefore advice the Governor to withhold the approval of any High Chief to become the Olubadan.

The petition titled: “RE: INSTALLATION OF A NEW OLUBADAN OF IBADAN LAND” called the attention of the Oyo state Governor over the installation of new Olubadan, referring to a court suit over the matter.

“May I humbly draw your attention to a traditional aberration and illegality that may occur in an attempt to install a new Olubadan of Ibadan,” the letter explained.

With the above reason, installation of the new Olubadan may be delayed.
