Osun Amotekun attends Southwest regional security training

As part of her commitment towards continuous personnel development and effective community policing in Osun State, The Osun State Security Network Agency, (Osun Amotekun Corps) , delegates Operatives of the Corps to attend a one-day regional security training organized by the Building Blocks for Peace Foundation in partnership with the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria(DAWN COMMISSION) and the Action on Free Civic Space in Ibadan,the capital city of Oyo State.

The workshop with the theme ” Regional Training of Amotekun Personnel on Community Policing and Human Rights Protection” , Southwest Nigeria, was held at the Ikolaba area of G.R.A , Ibadan.

The Corps Commander, Osun State Amotekun, Brig. Gen. Bashir Abiodun Adewinmbi, when contacted to speak on this programme,opined that, “it was just one of the many such professional training and workshop lined up to enhance the effectiveness of the Operations of the Osun Amotekun towards effective community policing” ; a situation whereby Osun Amotekun will carryout its lawful duties diligently without fear or favour and not infringe on the rights of the citizenry.
He accorded the possibility of participating in such programmes to the support of, His Excellency, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke , the Executive Governor of Osun State who is a staunch advocate of community policing.

The Operatives delegated to the regional training, thanked the organizers while giving immense appreciation to the Corps Commander and his deputy, Commander Benedict Olusoji Akanni for the privilege granted them to be partakers in the training. According to the Operatives,the have learnt much about Human Rights Protection, partnering with communities for effective policing, synergizing with other security agencies and above all, following the chain of command to enabling smooth Operations without hiccups.

They enjoined the management to continue in this part and not to relent in their efforts towards ensuring professionalism in the rank and file of the Osun Amotekun Corps.


The Local Government Commander, Ede South, Oni Toyin Omolola in her words, assured the management that the investment on them will surely yield positive returns as they will ensure that the knowledge gained from the training will be imparted on other Operatives.
