“The Professor Who Never Attends A Secondary School”

I am filled with profound admiration as I write this piece in honour of the remarkable and inspiring Professor Mikail Adebisi Folorunsho.

Despite his father’s strong desire for him to become an Alfa, Professor MAF pursued his true passion and became an accomplished and distinguished professor of Arabic literature. With his unwavering dedication and hard work, he has also risen to the esteemed position of State Missioner of the Ansar Ud Deen Society Worldwide, Osun State Council, a testament to his exceptional leadership and commitment to serving others.

It is worth noting that despite never having had the opportunity to pursue secondary education, Professor MAF’s exceptional talent and dedication to learning enabled him to attend “Ile kewu” and later pass the GCE by writing five papers and passed with distinction in four. He later took the English language and Yoruba and passed the two with credits in his second attempt. The same year he attempted A’Level Economics and Islamic and passed. With these, he had six O’ Level results and two A’ Level results including the University of Ibadan Diploma for his Direct entry admission to University of Ilorin in 86/87 academic session. This was more than sufficient for admission into the University at that time.

This speaks volumes about his natural intelligence, self-motivation, and resilience in the face of adversity.

In my view, success is not just about achieving external recognition or material gain, but rather about working hard in a field that truly fulfills your desires and ignites your passion. It involves striving to become the best version of yourself by setting and achieving personal goals.

Professor MAF embodies this definition of success, and his journey is a source of inspiration for countless individuals.

His attainment of a full chair in the University system is a testament to his unwavering determination, exceptional talent, and ability to exceed expectations in everything he does, as well as the grace of God.

Moreover, Professor MAF is a man of remarkable humility, grace, and kindness towards others. He has touched the lives of many, including mine, and I am deeply grateful for his unwavering support and companionship in my educational pursuits and other struggles of life.

In closing, on behalf of the Bakare Oyedeji Royal dynasty and all your boys, I congratulate the newly minted professor. Insha Allah, your tomorrow will be even brighter, filled with new opportunities to inspire, lead, and achieve your dreams.

Congratulations, Sir!
Prince (Alh) Tajudeen Adegboyega Oyedeji, MANUPA
