Hijrah: Osun govt declares a-day public holiday
Information reaching the OsunReporters News confirmed that the Osun State government has declared a-day public holiday to mark this year’s Hijrah, the Islamic new year calendar.
According to a release signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs, R.K Aderibigbe on Friday in Osogbo, Monday 8th July, 2024 was declared public holiday to celebrate Islamic New year Hijirah 1446AH.
The release read in part: “This is to inform the general public that His Excellency the Governor of Osun State Dr. Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke has declared Monday 8th July, 2024 as public holiday to celebrate Islamic New year Hijirah 1446AH.
“His Excellency, the Governor of Osun State is also using this medium to appeal to all Islamic faithfuls to use the period of the celebration to pray for peace, progress and development of the State and Nigeria as a whole.”
