JUST IN: Cotonou Court Finally Gives Rulling On Sunday Igboho

After several controversial extradition of Igboho between Republic of Benin and Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou, Benin Republic has ordered that Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho be kept in Benin prison custody until final investigation will carried out.

The court commenced proceeding at about 5:00pm on Monday as against 10:00 am earlier fixed after supporters of Igboho were dispersed from the premises of Court later in the evening, prompting fears that he might be deported to Nigeria.

The rulling declined immediate extradition of Igboho to Nigeria.


It could be recalled that the government of Nigeria accused Igboho of trafficking in arms, inciting violence to disrupt the public peace and agitating for secession. It also sought his extradition to Nigeria, while Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arrested at the Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou, last Monday while trying to catch a flight to Germany. Ropo, who is a German citizen was set free by the court on Thursday while the self-styled agitator was remanded in the custody of Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou.
