Osun Online Media Practitioners seek synergy with police
The Osun Online media Practitioners Association(OOMPA) has called for a stronger synergy, cordial relationship between the police and Media Practitioners in sustaining peace and security in Osun State.
OOMPA Chairman, Jare Tiamiyu, who made the call in Osogbo on Friday during a courtesy visit to the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Undie J. Adie in his office at the state command headquarters.
In a statement signed by the OOMPA’s Publicity Secretary, Tunde Olorungbotemi, the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Undie Adie assured that the police shall continue to give a listening ear and attend to the media in reporting accurate, actual and timely information.
The Chairman of the association emphasised that one of the reason for their visit was to welcome the CP to the most peaceful state in south west and Nigeria at large.
He appreciated the contribution of the Osun state CP for his commitment and unrelenting services to clean the state from every form of illegality and criminal act.
“There should be cordial relationship between the police and media in sustenance of peace and security in Osun State, let us collectively build up security in this state so that we can have a peaceful environment,” he said.
In his reaction, CP Adie maintained that there is need for media practitioners in the state to continue to support, as well as assist the police in ensuring security of lives and properties in the state.
“Without media, members of the public may not know what is going on in the society, let us all play our role in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere. The police is ready to work with you, we are all here to serve the members of the public and to ensure security in this state.
“Our doors are always open and we’re ready to answer your questions at any time. This meeting is historic as I have not met online journalists in my previous commands. I look forward to a robust partnership with you.
CP Adie then tasked Media practitioners in the state to be professional in their reportage, noting that the police is always ready to perform their constitutional responsibilities which is safety of lives and properties of the citizen.
He also charged Online Media Practitioners in the state to fully support the police in combating criminal activities and creating a peaceful enabling environment in the state.
