Police arrest armed robber, recover stolen car, ammunition

Delta State Police have arrested a suspected armed robber in Sapele and recovered several rounds of ammunition from his possession.

Police spokesman DSP Bright Edafe said in a statement in Warri, Delta State, that the suspect was arrested on Wednesday.

He said the 38-year-old suspect was terrorizing residents of Sapele and its environs, adding that he was also on the police list.

“On November 10, 2021 around 4.45pm, police received information that he was in Sapele.

As a result, security forces raided his home and recovered one home firearm and seven live ammunition. “Investigations are ongoing,” he said.

Edafe added that police also arrested a suspected carjacker and recovered a car stolen from him.

He said the victory was achieved on November 8 in collaboration with the police and vigilante team in Oghara, West Ethiopia Local Government Area of ​​the state.

On November 8, police in Oghara conducted a detailed search of security forces and vigilantes in Ijomi area where they intercepted a Toyota Corolla allegedly stolen from its owner.
“There were two men and one woman in the car.

One of the suspects escaped when police arrested the other suspect and recovered the vehicle.
“The suspect replied that he and a friend had hijacked the car from a driver in Benin City.


Edafe said after questioning, the woman in the car, a native of the northern part of the country, was found to be a passenger when the car was stolen.
“The suspects attacked me and injured me. They also tried to rape me, ”Edafe quoted the woman as saying.
He said the matter was being investigated.
