Tinubu Appoints University Student Into Presidential Committee (Photo)

Olamide Obagbemileke, a 400-level student in the Department of Economics of the Kwara State University (KWASU), has been appointed to the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms as a research assistant and analyst.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the appointment was announced by the university in a tweet on Thursday evening, October 12.

The tweet reads in part: “Miss Obagbemileke was notified of this selection in a letter signed by the Policy and Research Analyst and Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Bomate Ogaree-Lawson.”

Obagbemileke is the second undergraduate appointed to the presidential committee since its inauguration. She will work with the committee for three months and serve as the committee’s student ambassador.

The Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms was inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, August 8, at the presidential villa in Abuja. The committee is chaired by Taiwo Oyedele, and Orire Agbaje, a 400-level economics student of the University of Ibadan, is also a member.


The committee’s mandate is to review Nigeria’s fiscal and tax policies and to make recommendations for reforms. The committee is expected to submit its report to the president within six months.
