A lecturer identified as Ahmed Saheed and an undergraduate student at the Michael Otedola College of Primary Health Education (MOCPED) in the Epe local government area in Lagos state were killed.

The lecturer was reportedly killed around the town of Poka in Epe, while the student identified as Razak Bakare was shot dead on campus.

A police source told our correspondent that the two incidents, which he described as unfortunate, occurred within 48 hours.
The deaths of the lecturer and student were confirmed by lawmakers and traditional community leaders.

They said while the student was tracked down and killed on Wednesday, the lecturer was shot on Friday.

Currently, the university community of Poka is uncomfortable, according to the Aladeshoyin of Odo-Noforija, in the Epe division.
Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, the traditional leader of the community, expressed his sadness over these incidents.

He said the peaceful nature of the town of Noforija was shattered by the unfortunate killings.
He therefore called on the school administration to install closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in and around the school premises.
Ogunlaja also called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Police Commissioner Hakeem Odumosu to deploy more security personnel to the community.

He called on the Lagos State government to rebuild the institution’s collapsed fence.
The Alara of Ilara Kingdom, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, also condemned the incidents and urged law enforcement to retrieve the perpetrators.

He promised, however, that the traditional institution would ensure that every effort was made to tackle such ugly tendencies in the community.
