Aremo Adelabu Urges Osun Youths To Shun Fraudulent Acts

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Youths and Sports in Osun, Aremo Gboyega Adelabu has urged Youths in the State to imbibe the Culture of Omoluabi and shun every form of fraudulent activities which may destroy their future.

In a comprehensive report made available to the OSUNREPORTERS NEWS by the Press Officer of the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mrs Oluwabunmi Akindele in Osogbo on Saturday, noted that the prize giving ceremony of online quiz competition organised by the Special Adviser, Aremo Gboyega Adelabu to mark the 66th birthday of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola held at Ileri Oluwa Campaign Office, Osogbo.

Aremo Adelabu congratulated Governor Oyetola for the grace God has granted him to witness the day hale and healthy and prayed God to Grant him grace to celebrate more of it as he pilots the State to enviable heights.

He described Governor Oyetola as a silent achiever and sports lover who is making difference in the lives of the people of Osun adding that, the giant stride of Governor Oyetola in all sectors ranging from the economy, provision of infrastructure and enabling environment for health, security among others.

He emphasized that, Governor Oyetola has approved the training of 10,000 Youths and 1000 different groups who shall have access to the #5million National Youth Investment Federal Government Fund across the State at five percent interest and pay back within three years.

Adelabu further stated that, immediately he assumed Office as the Special Adviser on Youth and Sports, on the 27th July, 2020, he swong into action in ensuring the Township Stadium, Osogbo meet the budding talents that spread across all Sports adding that, the Ministry has embark on rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium, particularly the pitch to make it easy for the State teams play good football as soon as the league kick-starts.

According to him, ” I was very happy to see the zeal for victory in these young talented Sports men and women who I believe will be world stars in no distant time. This made me believe that the future of Osun at every sports competition is very bright.

“In sports, I want to assure you that, Governor Oyetola loves Excellence and good performance, success and appreciate medals. He has promised to fund Sports and continue to support any idea that will lead to the progress of the Sport sector in Osun.

He has assured us that henceforth, the salary of all athletes will be paid as an when due and that, Osun State will continue to be hosted at every national tournament and competitions. I want to say the Ministry will support all sports federations to focus on initiatives and programmes that will lead to the revival of sports in tertiary, high School and grassroots level.

“By the Grace of God, Osun United will play in the Nigeria National League (NNL), Osun Babes will participate in the Nigeria Women Premier League while the performing athletes and coaches will not be left behind whenever the National Sports festival and National Youth Games are taking place”. Adelabu explained.

The Special Adviser however urged the State athletes, Coaches and Players to always exibit the spirit of sportsmanship and Omoluabi wherever they find themselves and in everything they do adding that, the Ministry is for all categories of Sports from Ayo Olopon, Basketball, Karate, Football to mention but few.

He further reiterated that, all talented young athletes in various categories of Sports are expected at the Osogbo Township Stadium to showcase their talents whenever the ban is lifted on Sports.

In his welcome address, the Chairman planning Committee of the event, Sikiru Tijani appreciated God for making the day a reality. He disclosed that thousands of youth participated in the online sport quiz competition across the State and beyond, noting that 20 winners emerged after scrutiny and cleared of any form of malpractices.

Tijani further congratulated the participants and the winners for their courage and commitment in taken part in the competition. He therefore urged Youths in the State to continue to support Governor Oyetola’s led administration.

The 20 winners were given prizes for the competition such as Gas cooker, Electric Iron, Electric fan, Cash prize, Laptop, Television and other materials in which Semiu Yekin came first, Williams Adetunji came second while Olawuyi Isiak came third and were rewarded accordingly.

General Manager, Osun United, Rotimi Dunmoye, Senior Special Assistance to the Commissioner on Culture and Tourism, Raimi Opesina, Osogbo APC Chairman, Said Onibonokuta, Director Coaching and Training, Ademola Dairo, Secretary, Osun Babes, Ronke Ogunbanwo, Director of Sports, Caroline Olagunju, Osun Youth Engagement Scheme (OYES) Cadets among others.
