INEC declares Soludo the winner of Anambra guber election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Chukwuma Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grande Alliance (APGA), the winner of the Anambra governorate election.

Florence Obi, returning officer for the state, announced the result on Wednesday morning November 10, 2021.

The APGA candidate won 112,229 votes to defeat his two main rivals – Valentine Ozigbo of the PDP who won 53,807 votes, and Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who won 43,285 votes.

Ifeanyi Ubah from the Progressive Youth Party (YPP) came next with 21,261 votes.

Soludo, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was declared the winner of the election on Wednesday at exactly 1:51 a.m.

However, Charles Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, having met the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and re-elected, ”said Obi.

The compilation of results, which ended several days late, was previously suspended.
The decision to suspend the elections was taken minutes later on Monday morning, with INEC declaring an additional election scheduled for November 9.

Sunday night, Soludo was in the lead with a margin of 52,624 votes.
Following the announcement of the result on Wednesday, it was jubilation at Soludo’s residence.

The former CBN governor won in 19 of the 21 LGAs in Anambra state, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won Ogbaru and Young Progressives Party (YPP) secured victory in Nnewi north.
