NNPC Sends Strong Message To Nigerians Over Fuel Scarcity

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has advised Nigerians against panicking the Premium Motor Spirit, more commonly known as gasoline. The appeal is contained in a statement signed by its Group Managing Director, Corporate Group Public Affairs, Garba Deen Muhammad.

Mr Muahammad, however, said the NNPC had more than 1.7 billion liters of gasoline in stock and more products are expected to arrive in the country daily in the weeks and months to come.

So the company said there was no need to harbor fear of gasoline shortages during the holiday season and beyond.

“The NNPC is also not aware of any government plans to cause the price of oil at the pump to rise. The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) made the statement last week.

“In view of these assurances, the NNPC therefore advises motorists and other gasoline consumers to maintain their regular pace of gasoline purchases without entering into a situation of panic that could send bad signals across the country.

“The NNPC is also engaging all stakeholders to ensure a smooth supply and distribution of products to all regions of the country during the holiday season and beyond,” the statement added.
