Detail Profile Of Women In Tinubu’s Ministerial List (PHOTOS)

,,,,,President Bola Tinubu transmitted the much-awaited ministerial nominees’ list to the nation’s Senate on Thursday.

The list contains 28 nominees for the various ministerial positions with women constituting a quarter of the ministerial nominees unveiled by the Senate.

The women are Hannatu Musawa, Betta Edu, Doris Aniche Uzoka, Nkiru Onyeojiocha, Stella Okotete, Uju Kennedy Ohaneye, and Iman Suleiman Ibrahim.

The proportion of women on the ministerial list fell short of the 35 per cent threshold recommended for Affirmative Action.

During his inaugural speech shortly after his swearing-in, the President promised to feature women and youth “prominently” in his administration.

Tinubu said, as contained in his party’s manifesto, he would ensure good representation of women and youths.

According to the manifesto (Renewed Hope 2023: Action Plan for a Better Nigeria), members of the Federal Executive Council are to reserve certain senior positions for women, while the private sector will be encouraged to do the same.

“Working with the National Assembly, we will aim to pass legislation promoting female employment in all government offices, ministries, and agencies. The goal will be to increase women’s participation in government to at least 35 per cent of all governmental positions,” he stated.

Here is a brief profile of the women who made the list:

▪️1. Hannatu Musawa

Barr. Hannatu Musawa is a remarkable woman who has made significant contributions to the legal field.

Her dedication, intelligence, and passion for justice have earned her a reputation as a prominent legal practitioner. She holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Buckingham, UK, and took a master’s degree in the Legal Aspects of Marine Affairs from the University of Cardiff, Wales.

She also has a master’s degree in Oil and Gas Law from the University of Aberdeen. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. As a qualified Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, she has varied and rich working experience in Nigeria and the UK.

Hannatu has worked as a litigation lawyer and Legal advisor to a number of private companies, she worked with the law firm of Late chief Akpamgbo. Hannatu founded the firm Hanney Musawa & associates.

Hannatu Musawa has been heavily involved in Politics over the years. She contested for the federal house of representative’s legislative seat in her home state of Katsina. As an activist, she was once on the prosecutors leading team in the 2003 presidential petition between Buhari and Olusegun Obasanjo.

Throughout her career, she has fought tirelessly to uphold the rule of law and ensure that justice is served for those who need it the most. Her advocacy for the rights of the marginalized and vulnerable in society has been nothing short of inspiring., a former deputy spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, was recently appointed Special Adviser on Culture and Entertainment Economy by the President.

▪️2. Dr Betta Edu

Dr. Betta Edu is a shining example of a dedicated healthcare professional and public servant. Her unwavering commitment to improving the healthcare system in Nigeria has been truly commendable. Betta as APC National women leader during the 2023 Nigerian general elections campaign assured women of 35 percent affirmative action from President Bola Tinubu.

In July 2023, the state Women Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across all 36 states in Nigeria including that of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) passed a vote of confidence on Betta Edu. They did this during their visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Also in July 2023, the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Maryam Babangida National Center For Women Development Headed by DG Asabe Vilita Bashir, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development awarded Betta Edu the Award of Excellence in Leadership for gender inclusion and women empowerment.

This is in recognition of her commitment to championing the cause of empowering women, children, and other vulnerable groups in Nigeria.

As a medical doctor, she has worked tirelessly to provide medical care and support to those in need. Dr. Edu’s leadership in various health-related initiatives has brought about positive changes and improvements in the well-being of countless individuals. Her passion for public health has made a lasting impact on her community and beyond. Edu earned her medicine and surgery degree from the University of Calabar, Cross River State.

She is also the immediate past Commissioner for Health in Cross River State.

Edu became the National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in March 2022 after defeating her opponent by 2,662 to 117 votes at the APC National Convention.

She has also served as the Special Adviser on Women’s Affairs for the defunct Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Committee.

▪️3. Hon. Nkiru Onyejeocha

Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejocha is an outstanding politician and public servant who has continuously served her community with utmost dedication.

Onyejocha’s political career started with her appointment in 2002 to the executive cabinet of Abia State as commissioner for Resource Management and Manpower Development by Governor Orji Uzor Kalu. She is recognised for the establishment of skill acquisition centres across Abia state.

In 2003 she was Transition Executive Chairman of Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State. During her term in office, she executed erosion control projects, improved community security, and carried out rehabilitation of feeder roads.

Her leadership and advocacy have focused on empowering women and promoting gender equality. She has been a vocal champion for women’s rights and has worked to create opportunities for women to excel in various fields. Hon. Onyejocha’s contributions to the advancement of women in society have earned her respect and admiration from many., who graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, was one of the longest-serving members of the House of Representatives until 2023.

She was first elected a member of the House of Representatives in 2007 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), then Nigeria’s ruling party.

She defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2018 and won her re-election bid for a fourth term in Nigeria’s Green Chamber in 2019.

However, she lost to Chief Amobi Ogah of the Labour Party (LP) for the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi House of Representatives in Abia State in the just concluded 2023 general election.

▪️4. Hon. Stella Okotette

Hon. Stella Okotette is a shining example of resilience and determination. As a seasoned politician and public servant, she has worked tirelessly to represent her constituents and bring about positive change in her country. Her focus on economic development and social empowerment has led to the implementation of various initiatives that have improved the lives of the people she serves. Hon. Okotette’s dedication to public service is a testament to her love for her country and her commitment to its progress.

Beyond her professional endeavours, Hon. Stella is deeply committed to philanthropy and community service. She is the Co-Founder of the E’Girls Right Foundation and has actively engaged with Internally Displaced Persons at IDP Camps in Ughelli, Maiduguri, and Abuja, making a positive impact on their lives. Okotete graduated from Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, where she majored in International Studies and Diplomacy.

She was appointed the Executive Director (Business Development) at the Nigeria Export and Import Bank( NEXIM) by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022.

Between 2011 and 2015, she served as the Special Assistant and Adviser to the Executive Governor of Delta State on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

▪️5. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye

Hon Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye was the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s only female presidential candidate but later withdrew to back President Bola Tinubu. She is a trailblazer in the political sphere, breaking barriers and shattering stereotypes. Her leadership style is characterized by inclusivity and a genuine concern for the welfare of her constituents. Throughout her tenure, she has championed numerous causes, ranging from education to healthcare, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those she represents. Hon. Ohanenye’s resilience and determination have proven that women can excel in any field they choose.

Determined to travel the miles of rough political highway , dotted with potholes of uncertainty that resists smooth drive, yet she wades through the forests of men to aspire for the ultimate office in the country.

What endears her most to the hears of indigent Nigerians is her immense commitment in hospitality, domestic, social and political engineering having shown unmeasurable love and caring to the grassroots most particularly the indigent, youths, widows , widowers and even rehabilitation of beggars in most metropolitan cities.

The lioness characteristic in her is manifest in her consistent attitude of feeding the poor and empowering the indigent needy amongst Nigerians.

Halima Umani Halilu, from Zamfara, an APC benefactor of her benevolence, said she is likened to a lioness that catches the prey to serve her curbs and the community including the lions( the men).

She is a legal practitioner and businesswoman based in Abuja.

The businesswoman-turned-politician is happily married with four children.

▪️6. Iman Suleiman Ibrahim

Mrs. Iman Suleiman Ibrahim is a woman of immense strength and grace. Her contributions to society extend beyond her immediate community, as she has been an advocate for women’s empowerment and social justice.

On 1 December 2020, Iman Sulaiman-Ibrahim was appointed by then President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari as the director-general of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP for a four-year tenure to replace Julie Okah-Donli. She served as the Director-General of NAPTIP for the duration of 6 months from December 2020 to May 20211, following the directives of President Muhammadu Buhari to move to the National Commission For Refugees Migrants And Internally Displaced Persons Office as the Honourable Federal Commissioner.

Through her philanthropic work, she has uplifted the lives of many, providing access to education and healthcare to those in need. Mrs. Ibrahim’s compassionate spirit and dedication to humanitarian causes have inspired others to join her in making a positive impact on the world.

Iman Suleiman Ibrahim was educated at the University of Abuja with a degree in sociology.

▪️7. Doris Aniche Uzoka

Dr. Doris Aniche Uzoka is an accomplished individual with a brilliant mind and a heart full of compassion. As a respected professional in the medical field, she has played a vital role in advancing healthcare research and technology. Her dedication to innovation and improvement in medical practices has helped save numerous lives and alleviate suffering. Dr. Uzoka’s work has not only touched the lives of her patients but has also inspired the next generation of medical practitioners to follow in her footsteps.

These women stand as powerful examples of how determination, passion, and compassion can bring about significant change in the world. Their achievements have not only contributed to the progress of their respective fields but have also inspired and empowered countless individuals along the way.

They continue to be a source of inspiration for women and men alike, proving that with dedication and hard work, one can make a lasting impact on society.Uzoka is the current Imo State Commissioner for Finance. She has also served as the SA Presidential Policy Advisory Council (National Economy).


Uzoka is said to have had decades of political and professional affinity with Lagos and was an easy pick for Tinubu because of her background in the finance sector.
